  • Short Course Description:The goal of this intermediate LED luminaire design course is to bring the audience beyond the basic level and touch on the next level of detail for each of the major engineering disciplines LED, thermal, mechanical, electrical and optical.

  • Learning Objective 1:The audience will gain a more detailed understanding of how an LED works. A few of the more challenging topics will be presented and described.
  • Learning Objective 2:The audience will learn more details about the design of power management systems for LED luminaires. Selected topics will be presented to provide detailed insight into LED electronics.
  • Learning Objective 3:The audience will gain an understanding of thermal and optical technology used in a few test case LED luminaire systems.
  • Learning Objective 4:The audience will see LED luminaire design from a systems perspective with key risks presented and mitigation plans outlined.

While in its infancy in global adoption, LED lighting is technically mature with recent advancements more in refinements. The goal of this intermediate LED luminaire design course is to bring the audience beyond the basic level and touch on the next level of detail for each of the major engineering disciplines: LED, thermal, mechanical, electrical and optical. The last section will be from a systems engineering perspective summarizing but also accounting for interactions between various aspects of the design. Each presenter will dive into a few topics in detail revealing the tips and tricks needed to succeed in each discipline.
